  • Provide support for the activities for the Prelude FLNG Integrated Engineering Team, including FLNG Operation and Brownfield Projects

Brunel are recruiting a Senior Mechanical Static Engineer to support the activities of the Prelude Lead Mechanical Static Engineer for the Prelude FLNG Integrated Engineering Team in the Prelude FLNG Venture organisation, including FLNG Operation and Brownfield Projects.

  • Ensure HSSE requirements are incorporated into Engineering Assurance processes
  • Provide support to the Prelude asset team to ensure ongoing integrity of equipment and facilities
  • Provide mechanical engineering advice including fitness for service assessments, mechanical calculations, trouble shooting, root cause investigations, Brownfield project supports and change management
  • Work with Maintenance and Operations to support Prelude production and ensure continuous process alignment and improvement
  • Investigate equipment failures and selection of the required repairs and quality control tests to restore equipment integrity
  • Provide engineering support to assist with the procurement of spare parts and materials for the Prelude facility
  • Drive the completion of reliability improvement initiatives to increase the reliability of Prelude equipment and systems
  • Assess design exceedances and input to Statement of Fitness assessments to ultimately provide engineering advice on whether mechanical equipment is safe for continued operation
  • Develop, implement and track the process for demonstration of Technical Integrity for brownfield modifications and management of change
  • Supervise and maintain accountability for mechanical engineering Third Party Contractors as required
  • Act as Contract Owner for mechanical maintenance and engineering services contracts



  • Degree (BEng or equivalent) in engineering discipline
  • Minimum Technical Authority 3 (TA3) in Mechanical Static discipline
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience in quality, construction, commissioning, handover and operation of offshore oil and gas facilities
  • Minimum 15 years’ experience within the static mechanical discipline, with an engineering contractor and an operator preferred

Able to meet minimum discipline specific competency levels including:

  • Manage Design activities during various stages of project
  • Develop, design, specify and evaluate pressure vessels, heat exchangers other process equipment
  • Piping and valve systems design
  • Static Equipment Engineering Standards / best practices
  • Material Selection & Specification Knowledge
  • Proficient in using mechanical software packages such as: PV Elite, CaesarII, Abaqus
  • Proficient in using Microsoft Office applications (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint)
  • Proficient in extracting and analysing data and insight from databases relating to systems completion, engineering data, handover information and quality records
  • Ability to coach junior mechanical engineers
  • Ability to project manage activities through different parts of the organisation
  • Ability to adapt and deliver in dynamic work environment with multiple, changing and sometimes urgent priorities
  • Strong planning and organisation skills
  • Clear, effective interaction and communication across a diverse community of company and contractor colleagues
  • Ability to analyse data, manage uncertainty and create clarity from complexity
  • Effective at influencing and delivering through others
  • Strong personal ownership and accountability to deliver own scope and support others in the team and wider project
